Like it or not, electric vehicles are here to stay – in fact, we could all be driving them as soon as 2040 when the government intends to ban the sale of new petrol & diesel cars in the UK.
Unlike their petrol counterparts, electric cars haven’t the best luck when it comes to positive publicity – from worries about fires to concerns about so-called range anxiety. But public opinion is slowly shifting, thanks in part to the growing popularity of Tesla, along with a number of solid EVs from traditional manufacturers like the award-winning Jaguar I-Pace.
One way to get consumers excited about a new vehicle is to create a really fast version and use it break a bunch of records – which is exactly what the 10 car manufacturers below have done.
Despite their various drawbacks, one of the great things about electric cars is their ridiculous ability to accelerate. Who knows, one day in the future you could be driving a sensible family SUV that can hit 60mph quicker than a Porsche 911 Turbo S!
